About Me

John Merriman: For the past five years, John Merriman has worked as a film programmer at the Austin Film Festival and Conference which celebrated its 15th year this past October. In addition to programming, John has extensive film work in front of and behind the camera. He starred in Steve Collins’ acclaimed first feature GRETCHEN which won the Target Filmmaker Award at the Los Angeles Film Festival in 2006; he co-wrote, co-directed, and starred in the low budget feature MY NAME IS BUTTONS; and played the lead in the Student Academy Award nominated short PERILS IN NUDE MODELING. He grew up in Houston, Texas and attended Connecticut College where he majored in psychology. He thinks Felix's Mexican Restaurant is the best food in the entire world regardless of what you think.
